Eminem’s single “Love The Way You Lie” with R&B singer Rihanna is officially his best-selling single of all time.

The RIAA recently certified “Love The Way You Lie” 5x platinum, meaning it has sold well over 5 million copies. The track is taken from Eminem album Recovery, which has sold 4 million copies in the United States alone.

The Alex Da Kid produced track was released as the second single on Eminem’s seventh studio album, ‘Recovery,’ and immediately drew the attention of music critics who referred to it as one of the best songs of 2010 and Eminem’s career. The song’s critical accolades, which included 30 award nominations and six wins, were coupled with incredible market success as the track debuted at number one on 25 international charts.

The song deals with themes of domestic violence that mas led many to suggest that Eminem wrote the track from his experience with his ex-wife Kimberly Scott. While Eminem wrote his own verses, the chorus, which Rihanna sings, was written by Skylar Grey who also penned the lyrics of Rihanna’s ‘Love the Way You Lie (Part II).’

The best selling single of all time is Bing Crosby’s 1942 ‘White Christmas’ which has sold an astounding 50 million copies, while Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ tops R&B singles with 12 million sales. Eminem’s single currently beats out other hip hop singles such as Lil Wayne’s ‘Lollipop’ which has recorded 9.1 million sales internationally, but up-to-date international sales for Wayne’s single are unavailable.

Eminem’s sales ability continues to be proven, as the single “I Need a Doctor” featuring Dr. Dre has been certified 2x platinum.
